Today we are spotlighting Lauren Mynderse and her study abroad experience in Ireland!
This summer she was fortunate enough to travel to Dublin, Ireland where she studied at the University College Dublin. She took public relations courses and was given the opportunity to work with a communications company in Ireland.
During her trip, she got the chance to travel and experience a new culture as well as learn Irish traditions. She traveled to Glendalough Valley where she enjoyed looking at the beautiful valley and lakes. She said she even enjoyed an ice cream cone in the fifty-degree weather, claiming that ice cream is always acceptable no matter what the temperature.
When she traveled to Northern Ireland, she visited Carrick-a-Rede where she hesitantly crossed a rope bridge that hovered over the bright blue waters. She was also able to visit the Giant’s Causeway where she saw a beautiful formation of basalt columns that were created from volcanic eruption.
During her visit she also got to experience and see the Titanic museum where she learned so much more information than the movie could ever have taught her. She was also able to drive by the homes of Enya and Bono while learning about the history of music that can be found throughout Dublin’s city center.
On top of spending time in Ireland, she was also lucky enough to spend a weekend in London and discover some new things about London’s past while visiting places such as Buckingham Palace.
She found it easy to merge herself into the culture, but said she would never feel fully comfortable driving on the left side of the road or feel confident enough to use the bus system!
Until our next spotlight,
